"Treasure Island" is a song performed by Azealia Banks. The track was written by Banks, Cirkut and Dr. Luke, and produced by the last two. It was released on July 6, 2018, as the second single of the album.
Background[]
On January 21, 2017 Azealia shared a snippet of the track through an Instagram story.[1]
Azealia shared a photograph of a tapestry she made for what was then a secret project on March 12, 2018.[2] The next day, Azealia shared a costume made by Weslah and hours later published a small bts of her in what would be the set of photographs for the cover of the single.[3][4]
On March 26, 2020, Azealia announced the release date of the single, which would be through Eone, along with a couple of photographs intended for the single's cover.[5][6]
Later, she shared a another short snippet of the song via Instagram and confirmed the track would be released as a single on July 13th, 2018.[7]
On May 4, 2019, Azealia posted a twitter thread announcing the release of a new mixtape called "YUNG RAPUNXEL PT. II" and commented on the new events that were happening to her. Among them, Azealia clarified that she no longer belonged to Eone's catalog because she considers that they sabotaged her and completely ruined her work (Fantasea II) since the royalties of the songs belong to the record company and therefore the publication of the mixtape was postponed and it is very likely that a large part of the songs cannot be published.
In the same thread, she accused Dr. Luke of fraud and Eone of sabotage, Azealia wanted a better promotion for the single and a music video but in the end all this did not end like that.[8]

NME opined:
“Treasure Island” features infectious beats and god-like flows yet also showcases a softer side to the rapper/singer than we’re used to as she asks: “Do you need some love in your lonely world? 'Cause I believe you'll like it where the moon twinkles on the watery horizon”.[9]
The Fader opined:
“Azealia Banks has shared the second single from her new mixtape Fantasea II. This one's called "Treasure Island," and as its title suggests, the song is a totally brazen tropical getaway. Banks also shared the cover for Fantasea II, which references the animated art of its predecessor.”[10]
