Background[]
Azealia shared a fragment of the song on February 10, 2020 through her Instagram stories and then in a post.[1] The next day, she shared three conceptual ideas for the cover of the song and fans had to choose which of the three covers was the best.[2]
The track was reworked and surprisingly uploaded on all music platforms with a new cover art on April 19, 2021.[3]
Critical reception[]
Hot New Hip Hop opined: "...she has come forward with a new single called "Nirvana," which arrives complete with hard-hitting Spanish bars. Throw in a drill-inspired beat from Onyx and As If Kid, and you've got all the major boxes checked off.
Alternating between languages with a deft flow, Banks seems to be having fun on this one. Technically speaking, she sounds as focused as ever, riding the string-heavy instrumental with typical swagger.
