“Heavy Metal & Reflective” was first announced in September 2013 when Banks posted the track list for the album on her Instagram account. However when she ended her contract with Interscope & Polydor Records in the summer of 2014, she found a new record label and signed to Jeff Kwaintez’s label “Prospect Park”. She then released the single under the new label.

Banks recorded a music video reportedly funded by herself and worked with the director Nick Ace for it. The music video was shot in the desert which showed Banks being kidnapped and tied to a chair with people riding dirt bikes aswell. It was officially released on August 5 2014 and currently as of November 2023 sits at 4.8m views.
