Background

Three snippets of the track were presented through Azealia's Instagram on February 14, 2020.Azealia was supposed to release the track that same night but preferred to work the song more.

The first verse to Salchichón was originally intended to be on the song “Hijas De La Noche” by 3BALLMTY, but Azealia stated on her instagram in February 2020 that the collaboration was cancelled because the band could not pay her.

On February 22, 24 and 25 Azealia posted three snippets on her Instagram account saying: “I need a dope 3d render salami salchichon Dominican bodega style for the cover art”. Then she shared a 34-second snippet in her twitter account. On the 26th of the same month she shared a couple of artworks for the track on her Instagram account and credited the people who worked on the song.

Azealia talking about the track: "I like this purposeful kind of messed up mix and weird vibe. I want more mix in THIS . Vibe. B/c I feel like some new dembow would just be kind of like too too electro for m taste. 1993 dembow style . Uptown Block party feels . I just want it to bang hard and be kind of vintage . I like the vocal quality for this too. This is so nerdy. @don_vicious @onyxmusick says it needs bass . @as_if_kid and the dancer bruk-up and lil vicious himself has actually contributed to this . Mixing & Mastering is hard lol. These are original sounds btw".
